Pope Francis’s legacy of leadership and deep commitment to justice, mercy, and care for the marginalized will continue to inspire us.

Dear Mount Community:
Today, we join the world in mourning the passing of His Holiness, Pope Francis…
Pope Francis’s legacy of leadership and deep commitment to justice, mercy, and care for the marginalized will continue to inspire us. He envisioned education not only as a means of fostering wisdom, but also as a means of serving others with compassion and advancing justice in our world.
As an institution founded by the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, Pope Francis’s emphasis on humility, simplicity, and charity resonates with the Mount Community. Throughout his life, Pope Francis was a living testament to these principles, as he championed the dignity of every person, the care of our common home, and the call to serve those most in need.
During this time of mourning, we draw strength from the example of Pope Francis and the values he upheld. Let us honor his memory by recommitting ourselves to our Mission and daring to risk a caring response to all those we serve.
To honor his life, we will gather for a Memorial Mass for Pope Francis on Tuesday, April 22nd, at 12:15 p.m., in historic Mater Dei Chapel. I invite you to join me in prayer for Pope Francis and for the Church, as it enters this time of transition. May we find comfort in the knowledge that his spirit will continue to inspire us as we carry forward the work of education and service to which he dedicated his life. All are welcome!
In faith and hope,
H James Williams, Ph.D.
