Jane’s trapped in her middle school computer lab playing “The Oregon Trail” for what feels like hours. The game becomes life and rips us back to the trail, 1848, where we travel in a covered wagon with Jane’s great-great-grandmother. As Game moves us, back, forward, and back again, Now-Jane and Then-Jane’s sadnesses are delicately juxtaposed in this play-meets-video-game about depression, Then and Now.
Runs November 7th, 8th, 9th, 15th & 16th, 2024
"The Oregon Trail" is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc. www.concordtheatricals.com
THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE
Music & lyrics by William Finn, book by Rachel Sheinkin, conceived by Rebecca Feldman, additional materials by Jay Reiss, originally directed on Broadway by James Lapine
This heartfelt musical comedy follows an eclectic group of six teens who compete for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Eight spellers enter; one speller leaves! At least the losers get a juice box.
Runs April 3rd, 4th, 5th, 11th & 12th, 2025
THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE is presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.

Throughout the year, we enjoy guest artists and workshops to add to the overall theatre experience. Periodically, this group attends theatre productions at local theatres such as Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Ensemble Theatre, the Know Theatre and Cincinnati Shakespeare Company.
Classes
Many wonderful theatre topics classes are offered at MSJ including topics from Directing for the Stage, Contemporary Drama, Shakespeare, and an Honors Cincinnati Art Scene course.
Students discover various acting techniques that fuse intellect, imagination, voice, and body. These courses are designed not only for students of the theatre, but also for students interested in public speaking, trial law, media, and education, as well as a broad range of other careers in which confident, fluent, and expressive communication skills are essential.
