Dear Mount Community:
Today marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001 – a day of profound loss that remains etched in our nation's memory.
On this Patriot Day, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the families forever changed, and the first responders and ordinary citizens who moved toward others in moments of extraordinary danger and need. Their courage and selflessness reflect values at the heart of our Catholic faith and our Sisters of Charity heritage: the dignity of every human life, compassion for those who suffer, and a willingness to serve others when they need us most.
Twenty-five years later, our remembrance also calls us to look forward with hope. In a world still marked by violence and division, may we honor those we lost by choosing compassion over indifference, service over self-interest, and peace over division. I invite our Mount Community to take a moment today to remember, to pray for those whose lives were lost or forever changed, and to consider how each of us can be a source of hope and peace for others.
