Program Options:

Program Highlights

  • Designed for the working professional, the Mount’s Reading Science programs are convenient to an educators’s schedule and available fully online.
  • All four options require the same core courses. Students can complete the Ohio reading endorsement in less than one year, then choose to continue studies to earn the dyslexia certificate and/or master’s degree.
  • The Mount’s programs use a scientifically-based reading research model. Coursework includes an Orton-Gillingham Structured Literacy Practicum. Through our programs students learn instructional approaches to teach reading, writing and spelling using an explicit, sequential, structured language approach.

May Cohort – Classes start in early May
The application window opens on August. 1st with a Dec. 1st Deadline
- Interviews conducted in January
- Notified by Feb. 10

August Cohort - Classes start end of August
The application window opens on Dec. 1st with an April 1st Deadline
- Interviews conducted in April
- Notified by May 1st

January Cohort classes start early January (Single Cohort) orientation in Dec.
The application window opens on April 1st with an August 1st Deadline
- Interviews conducted in September
- Notified by Oct. 1st

Program curriculum is based on National Reading Panel report recommendations. Coursework includes Orton-Gillingham Multisensory Reading. 

All reading science programs require a core set of courses (15 credit hours) that address current research and best practices in teaching reading and literacy.
