Mount St. Joseph University proudly announces that Professor Swati Chopra has been selected as the 2026 recipient of the S. Adele Clifford SC Award, a prestigious honor recognizing faculty who have made a profound impact on students’ lives through excellence in teaching, mentorship, and service.

Nominated by students and selected by a committee of past recipients and current students, the Clifford Award celebrates educators who embody the mission of the Mount by fostering academic excellence, personal growth, and meaningful engagement. Professor Chopra’s recognition reflects her unwavering dedication to her students, both inside and beyond the classroom.

A faculty member in the Art and Design program in the Department of Fine Arts, Chopra is widely known for her student-centered approach and commitment to experiential learning. She is the founder of Design Hub, an innovative, co-op-style initiative that provides students with real-world design experience through collaborations with university partners, community organizations, and clients across the country and internationally. Through this immersive model, students develop professional skills in communication, project management, and creative problem-solving while building strong portfolios.

“Swati Chopra is more than just a professor—she is a mentor, advocate, and constant source of support for her students,” said one student nominator. “She challenges us to grow while also making sure we feel seen, supported, and capable of success.”

Chopra’s teaching extends beyond technical instruction, emphasizing confidence-building, critical thinking, and adaptability—skills essential for success in today’s creative industries. She actively connects students with opportunities such as internships, exhibitions, and competitions, helping them transition from the classroom into professional practice.

Colleagues also recognize Chopra’s impact. “Professor Chopra consistently demonstrates a deep commitment to student learning and success,” said Michaelann Kelley, Ed.D. “Her ability to provide real-world applications creates a dynamic learning environment that prepares students for meaningful careers.”

In addition to her innovative teaching practices, Chopra is known for her compassion and accessibility. She fosters an inclusive environment where students feel supported through challenges and encouraged to persist, reinforcing a culture of growth and resilience.

Chopra was formally recognized at the Celebration of Leadership Awards on April 16, 2026 at Mount St. Joseph University.

The S. Adele Clifford SC Award remains one of the university’s highest honors for faculty, celebrating those who inspire, challenge, and empower students to reach their full potential.
