Valentine’s Day has always been the day of love, usually regarding relationships, but what if this year you use this day to take care of yourself, and show yourself some love?
Self-care can look so different, especially if you’re not used to doing it. Here are some suggestions that you could follow this Feb. 14.
1. Watch your favorite comfort movie or show, bake some cookies, and drink your favorite beverage. Really make this special for yourself. Use your favorite cup, snuggle with your comfiest blanket, and put extra chocolate chips in your cookies!
2. Prioritize skin care! There are so many face masks out there to match your skin type, and add a little more hydration to your dry winter skin. This could even be a fun thing to do while watching your movie or show.3. What did Miley Cyrus say? “I can buy my own flowers”? Well, yes you can, and you should! Whether it’s tulips, roses, or baby’s breath, put it in the cart. You deserve it!
4. Take a relaxing bath or shower, and let yourself unwind after a long week of work or classes. Use a bath bomb or shower steamer to elevate your experience.
5. Cook your favorite meal, order in, or take yourself out for dinner! Whatever you have been craving, let yourself enjoy it, without shame. Your body is a temple, and it deserves to be nourished well.
6. Indulge in a hobby or craft! Some examples include doing your nails, crocheting, painting, coloring, making jewelry, and writing. Whatever passions, hobbies, or crafts you enjoy, let yourself find creative freedom through them.
Hopefully one of these ideas sparked your interest, and you’ll find time to care for yourself this Valentine’s Day. You deserve all the love, time, and effort that you put into other people. So, put on that mask, watch that movie, drink that tea, and let yourself have a relaxing day of love!
