My senior year at MSJ came faster than I expected.

MSJ Diplomas

After almost a year and a half, my time at the Mount is coming to an end. The person I was in August 2024 is not the same person who will walk across the stage in May.

My time at the Mount has been nothing like I imagined, but not in a negative manner. When I transferred from Cincy State, I was not expecting to write for a school newspaper or take poetry courses. To say my experience has surpassed my expectations would be an understatement. From everything like the friends I’ve made, the memories we’ve created together, the professors I’ve met--the Mount has prepared me for greatness.

For you, my friends who approach or will soon approach their senior year, I offer some advice:

  • Those friends you make, keep them close to you—you will need them.
  • Be bold, speak up, and stand out—someone will thank you, even if they never say it to yourself
  • Never suffer in silence—someone can help, open your mouth and ask.
  • Take advantage of the opportunities the Mount has to offer.

Those are the four most important lessons I have learned thus far in my academic career. As graduation approaches, less than 100 days away, I can’t help but smile at all the great times I’ve had at the Mount. I’ll miss the football games, the bingo nights, and all my classmates who endure my jokes each day.

I do wish I could stay, but to grow, I must move on to the next big chapter of my life.
