"The Mount helped my transfer needs in all possible ways," says Matt.

Mount St. Joseph News

What is your year and major? What is your anticipated graduation year?

I am a sophomore majoring in nursing. I am anticipating graduating in the year 2027.

Why did you choose the Mount?

I chose the Mount because my mother and grandmother went to school here.  I also heard that the Mount ran a very well-liked nursing program.

How did the Mount help accommodate your transfer needs?

The Mount helped my transfer needs in all possible ways.  I was very nervous to transfer and walk in on my first day but everything from the school, teacher, and students have made my experience great.

Are you involved in any student organizations or extracurriculars? If so, how have these supported your academic success?

I am not involved in any extracurriculars unless you count the clinicals I am involved in with my nursing classes.  These clinicals have taught me so much and have given me many great hands-on experiences.

How do you manage your course load along with other obligations?

I manage my course load and obligation through putting in many hours of studying and working with my teachers and classmates to stay on track and succeed.

Are there any staff or professors you would like to credit who helped accommodate your transfer experience?

All my professors were great but the one that stood out was Professor Sandy Matthias.  She was extremely helpful in the classroom and by checking in on me due to transferring.

Describe one of your favorite memories at the Mount so far.

My favorite memory at the Mount is just simply making all the new friends that I have made and knowing that I will have them the rest of my college and possibly even after.

What advice would you give to someone looking to transfer to the Mount?

The advice I would give to someone transferring to the Mount is trying to branch out to others and make new friends.  It might seem scary and nervous but when you really try to reach out it is simple and easy and will make your experience better.

What was your experience like connecting with students on campus?

Connecting with students on campus was surprising very easy.  All my classmates were very welcoming.  In nursing there are only 4 other male students in my classes, and they all accepted me with open arms and we formed friendships.

Can you describe your experience with the transfer scholarships and applying for them?

The experience of all the transfer scholarships were very difficult but through the help of the Mount and my mother I was capable of making all the correct decision and accomplishing all the tasks that were need to happen.

How has the Mount supported you so far?

The mount has supported me in all the ways I have needed help in the school field and has helped me feel like this is the school for me to become the nurse I’ve always wanted to become.
