Shakespearean Actor, Darnell Pierre Benjamin, Visits the Mount

Dr. Drew Shannon’s class studying major works of Shakespeare recently hosted Darnell Pierre Benjamin, who talked about acting in and directing some of William Shakespeare’s works.
At Shannon’s request, he performed a monologue from “Titus Andronicus,” assuming the persona of the villain of that play, Aaron the Moor. Benjamin answered students’ questions about his education, favorite Shakespearean characters, which role he had not played but would love to and his journey into professional theater.
He has performed or directed plays at a number of area theaters, including Know Theatre of Cincinnati, Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati and Cincinnati Shakespeare Company.
Pictured here are some students in the class, with Darnell Pierre Benjamin third from right and Dr. Drew Shannon to his left.
