Mount St. Joseph University (Mount) announced the appointment of Dr. Charlene Kalenkoski, Ph.D., CFP(R), as Dean of the School of Business & Communication.

CINCINNATI – Dr. Kalenkoski brings a robust academic and research background in economics and financial planning to her new leadership role.
Dr. Kalenkoski earned her Ph.D. in economics from The George Washington University in 2002 and held numerous academic positions, including Professor and Ph.D. Program Director at Texas Tech University and Professor and Department Head at James Madison University. Her research spans labor economics, household economics, and financial planning, with recent publications in Review of Economics of the Household, Financial Services Review, and Journal of Financial Counseling and Planning.She is a member of the editorial boards of Financial Planning Review and Journal of Time Use Research, and is an Associate Editor for Journal of Financial Counseling and Planning.

Provost Steve Almquist added, “We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Kalenkoski to lead the School of Business & Communication. Her deep expertise in economics, planning, and program leadership will elevate our academic offerings and benefit our students.”
As Dean, Dr. Kalenkoski will oversee curriculum development, faculty recruitment, strategic partnerships, and student-engagement initiatives. She will foster hands-on learning, such as internships and student-run enterprises that are in alignment with MSJ’s mission to develop competent professionals.
