The Department of Nursing at Mount St. Joseph University has an outstanding reputation built on a century of educating nurses. The Department of Nursing provides educational and experiential opportunities for students to meet new challenges in the health and nursing needs of individuals across the lifespan, acute-care and community-based settings, as well as educating clients to maintain optimal levels of health and wellness. The University's state-of-the-art nursing lab and simulation center is a practice setting for the development of skills transferrable to the clinical area.  Of even greater value to students, however, is The Department of Nursing's faculty, an unparalleled team of eminently qualified professionals dedicated to preparing future nurses for healthcare’s dynamic environment. One of the standout faculty members the Mount has the honor of having as an adjunct professor and a pivotal partner at TriHealth with our MSN cohort is Rachel Baker!

Rachel Baker is a nursing adjunct professor at the Mount, a nurse, a nurse researcher at TriHealth, a scientist, an author, a mother of three, and an Ohio State Representative for District 27 (D-Cincinnati). She was sworn in as an Ohio State Representative for District 27 (D-Cincinnati) at the beginning of this year. She did not have any previous political experience but with her vast knowledge in healthcare, she became a great fit to help policymaking surrounding topics about healthcare and safety.

“Rep. Baker ran for office to use her problem-solving skills to make decisions that are backed by evidence when addressing the issues facing Ohioans. She is particularly interested in improving access to quality healthcare, increasing support for mental health care, promoting preventive care and population health, advocating for adequate funding of Ohio’s public schools, and increasing good-paying jobs for working families to promote Ohioans’ ability to live happy and healthy lives.” (The House of Representatives)

Mount St. Joseph University is extremely blessed to have Rachel Baker as an adjunct professor and as a partner at TriHealth with our MSN cohort. The city of Cincinnati and the state of Ohio are also reaping the benefits of her knowledge and dedication. Thank you, Rachel, for striving to make our University, city, and state a better place!
