An Endowed Professorship can honor an exemplary contributor to “The Academy” or to an institution, provide supreme recognition for the person filling the position, and send a powerful message regarding the quality of an Academic Institution.  Please join me in “raising a glass” to Dr. Kritsky’s stellar career and longevity at the Mount – by creating an Endowed Professorship to honor him; indeed, let’s Climb Higher, together!

An Endowed Professorship is an excellent way to acknowledge and “reward” an outstanding academic career, in teaching, research, and/or service.  There is no doubt that Dr. Kritsky has distinguished himself, nationally and internationally, during his exemplary, 40 years’ academic career at Mount St. Joseph University.  Having an Endowed Professorship bear his name will serve to honor his loyalty and commitment to the Mount in perpetuity: The Dr. Gene Kritsky Endowed Professorship!

In addition, an endowed scholarship in Dean Kritsky’s name can enhance the Mount’s ability to attract and/or retain a truly talented, accomplished faculty member.  Having been honored as the Asa T. Spaulding Professor of Accounting during an earlier phase of my Academic career, I can attest to the value of an endowed Professorship in attracting and retaining talented faculty members.  Indeed, it accords great recognition for the person who ultimately fills the Endowed Professorship.  In fact, in Higher Education, an endowed professorship is one of the highest honors a faculty member can achieve.  In addition, and more fundamentally, an endowed professorship provides financial support: first, to attract and retain a faculty member; then, to support research and teaching expenditures, including providing funding to purchase research and teaching materials, travel to professional meetings and conferences, and to hire students and support student learning experiences that might not otherwise be possible.

Finally, an endowed Professorship sends a strong signal about the caliber of the University, itself – and its ability, through its faculty, to create new knowledge and put it into action.

Please give generously, as an investment in the Mount – to honor Dr. Gene Kritsky, to attract and/or retain an accomplished faculty member, and to assure that students receive the best education possible by the most talented subject-matter faculty experts in the disciplines.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

H. James Williams, Ph.D.
