The words Sigma Tau Delta are the initial letters in Greek of the English words symbolizing “Sincerity, Truth, and Design.” The society honors English majors and minors who at the beginning of their third year of study have earned a 3.30 GPA or higher.

On April 14, 2014 the College of Mount St. Joseph and the Department of English and Modern Languages welcomed the newest honorary into the Sigma Tau Delta during the Spring 2014 initiation.

About Sigma Tau Delta

The aim of this society is to promote a mastery of written expression, to encourage worthwhile reading and to foster a spirit of good fellowship among students of the English language and literature. 

The Society offers members the opportunity to attend national conventions, present papers at conferences, publish in the Society journal and interact with other chapters. Sigma Tau Delta is the third largest Association of College Honor Societies.  Nationally, the society adds about 8,500 new members annually, and gives out over $40,000 in scholarships and awards.
