Midwifery, Shared Decision Making, Global Health


Dr. Valle is a certified nurse-midwife with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, a Master of Science in Nursing in nurse-midwifery from the University of Cincinnati, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Frontier Nursing University.  Dr. Valle's work during her DNP program focused on waterbirth and neonatal outcomes.  Dr. Valle is currently pursuing a PhD where she is researching shared decision making in midwifery and maternity care.

Dr. Valle has lived and worked as a nurse or nurse-midwife in the United States, the Netherlands, France, England, and Germany.  She has also completed a midwifery externship in Takoradi, Ghana.  Dr. Valle is an active member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) and is also a member of the exam committee for the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB).  Dr. Valle is passionate about midwifery care, teaching, and researching.  Her research interests focus on factors which promote optimal and equitable nursing and midwifery care such as shared decision making; team-based, collaborative care; simulation training; technology in nursing and nursing education; and integrative global healthcare.
