They’re going on to the NCAA tournament!

The College of Mount St. Joseph women’s volleyball team not only won the HCAC conference this season, but also defeated both Defiance and Transylvania at the conference tournament to advance on to the NCAA tournament.

With an overall record of 14 wins and 14 loses, the team fought hard for their title.  In conference play the team won eight of their nine games, only defeated by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.  The fight for the conference title came down to the senior night game against Transylvania University.  With the support of a large crowd they went on to beat Transylvania 3-1 and win the conference title.

Not only would the team be going to the conference tournament, but they would be the host of all tournament play as well.  A large crowd came out to support the lady Lions as they took on Defiance College in their first game of tournament play.  The Lions were victorious finishing the game with a score of 3-0 and moving on to the championship game where they again would face Transylvania University for a spot in the NCAA tournament.

Both teams came out strong, but the Lions kept their winning streak going, beating Transylvania 3-0 and claiming the HCAC tournament championship title.  This win ensured the team a spot in NCAA Division III tournament play.  Three Mount players were given tournament honors after the game. Nicole Sherpensky was named tournament MVP, while Michelle Woods and Hannah Vanarsdall were named to the All-Tournament team.

We would like to wish the women’s team good luck in NCAA tournament play.
