Five College of Mount St. Joseph athletic training students are celebrating National Athletic Training Month by attending the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers' Association meeting this weekend in Chicago.

Seniors Najeeb Abdur-Rahman, Collin Brown, and Jessica Pykosz and juniors Amanda McKibben and Kayla Wuest are travelling to the GLATA meeting with Instructor and Assistant Athletic Trainer Erin Beckwith. The students will be attending career development workshops, laboratory sessions, and lectures by leading researchers and clinicians in the Mid-West.

Brown, Pykosz and Wuest will be competing in the GLATA Quiz Bowl on Friday afternoon representing the state of Ohio against teams from Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Pykosz has had a busy Spring Break thus far. She traveled with the softball team to Orlando, Florida for their competitions during the first half of the break and will fly directly to Chicago to join her AT teammates.

"The students are looking forward to this trip to the Windy City and the opportunity to compete against other AT programs in the GLATA" remarked Dr. BC Charles-Liscombe, Program Director and Chair of Athletic Training. "Participation in continuing education conferences is an important aspect of each student's professional development. The students appreciate the AT Club and the Student Government Association for supporting this trip."
