This summer, the Division of Arts and Humanities implemented a proposal that features a New and Fresh approach to teaching and learning about music.

The new program takes the student from inside of the 4 walls of the college, and places them into music career situations.  Like many of us, we learned about the major that we were involved in, but did not get to experience the careers until we graduated.  We want to give the student the opportunity to observe and participate in as many different opportunities as possible while they are here at the Mount, and not just in the classroom, so that they may see logistically how things operate, and learn about issues that cannot be taught in the classroom! We also want the student to be able to make a more educated decision about what they want to do upon graduation.

The design of this proposal is to develop a more versatile, competitive and marketable student as well as attracting more focus and attention to our Department of Music.

The implantation of the proposal included two new hires

Todd Moody - Adjunct Instructor of Band

Bryan Crisp - New Program and Ensemble Coordinator
