The 2013 Dr. Jonathan B. Riess Undergraduate Art History Symposium will be held at the College of Mount St. Joseph on Saturday, April 13th, in the Recital Hall.

Participating students represent scholarship from the College of Mount St. Joseph, University of Cincinnati, and the Art Academy of Cincinnati.


Presentations will be held in the recital hall, located on the west side of campus: upon entering the west lot you will see signs for the recital hall. You will not need a pass to park in the lot that day.

The schedule of presentations is as follows:

  • 10:00 Greeting (students please arrive by 9:45 to upload presentations)
  • 10:20 Kimberlynn Martin, “Wisdom and Hope in Nature: The 19th Century Landscape”
  • 10:45 Courtney Kramer, “Suzanne Valadon and the Female Nude”
  • 11:10 Mark Barczak, “The Revolution Will Not Be Painted”
  • 11:35 lunch and photos (a light lunch and refreshments will be provided)
  • 12:15 Sierra Ross, “Altarpiece with Scenes from the Old and New Testaments
  • 12:40 Melanie Titanic-Schefft, “Byzantium’s Role in the Mosaic of Haitian Modernism”
