Lisa Peters is a graduate of Ithaca College School of Music in Ithaca, New York where she received a Bachelor of Music Education with an emphasis in Choral and Vocal Music. In addition she holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Xavier University. Originally from the state of Vermont, Mrs. Peters taught high school choir in the Cincinnati area for 30 years. She taught choral music first at Amelia High School and then was the Director of Choirs at Walnut Hills High School until the end of her public school teaching career.
Over the years, her high school choirs consistently received superior ratings at OMEA contests and placed first in their division at various North American Music Festival events. Mrs. Peters’ choirs performed with many prestigious organizations in Cincinnati including with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the University of Cincinnati CCM Choirs and the Vocal Arts Ensemble. Under her direction, the Walnut Hills High School Choirs were featured guest artists in various venues around the city including Music Hall, the Aronoff Center, the Taft Theater, the Mercantile Library of Cincinnati, the Main Public Library of Cincinnati and also appeared annually in the “Live with Lunch” Concert Series at Christ Church Cathedral.
In addition to her public school teaching, Mrs. Peters taught voice privately for the Northern Kentucky University Preparatory Department and held the position of Children’s Chorus Director for the Cincinnati Opera for a number of years. Over the course of her career, Mrs. Peters also held professional singing positions with groups such as Cincinnati Opera Chorus, Artpark Summer Opera Chorus (Buffalo, NY), Christ Church Cathedral in Cincinnati and Cincinnati Camerata.
Now in retirement from public school teaching, Mrs. Peters is pleased to be an adjunct faculty member and the Director of Choirs at the College of Mount St. Joseph.
