Biography:

Mr. Bellas is an assistant professor in the Department of Art, Fine Art and Art Education and the director of the on-campus Studio San Giuseppe Art Gallery and the newly established off-campus Flats Gallery (The College of Mount St. Joseph Urban Arts Partnership). He teaches advanced drawing, figure drawing and Intern Gallery Management courses at the Mount.

Professor Bellas received his M.F.A. from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and his B.S. in Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He served as Art Departmental chair and was a member of Deans Council from 2002-09, he participated in the summer faculty exchange program at Huron University (London) in 2004 and 1997, he was granted a sabbatical in the spring of 2010, and he is also a recipient of a National Endowment Fellowship in furniture making. His drawings, hand-made books and wood objects are shown in regional exhibitions.

Professor Bellas' is a long-time member of the College Art Association (CAA) and the Cincinnati Book Arts Society (CBAS), serving as one of the six founding CBAS board members. His interests and hobbies are in the visual arts and crafts, especially drawing, woodworking and bookbinding.
