Dr. Gialopsos is an assistant professor in the Department of Criminology. She earned a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati, with focuses in Crime Prevention and Criminological Theory. Professor Gialopsos also received a master’s degree in criminal justice from Texas State University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Texas A&M University.
Dr. Gialopsos's current research involves fear of crime and risk perceptions, school-based victimization, and repeat victimization. She is also interested in environmental criminology, situational crime prevention, academic dishonesty, and white-collar crime. Dr. Gialopsos is also a certified A.L.i.C.E. (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) instructor and educates members of the community on how to survive active shooter situations, in general, and school shootings, in particular.
In addition to her academic interests, Dr. Gialopsos enjoys running, practicing yoga, reading, and watching sports.
