Dr. Lonneman has been a nurse since 1982.  He has worked in hospice, in a neighborhood-based community health center, and in a variety of other primary-care settings; he was a family nurse practitioner for ten years before coming to the University.  Combining this experience with many years as a social justice activist in the city, he teaches community and public health at the Mount.  His doctoral work concerns the impacts of poverty, race, and racism on health and health behaviors.

Dr. Lonneman serves as the chairperson of the Mount's Environmental Action Committee. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Julie, keeping up with his two grown daughters and cheering on the Cincinnati Reds."
