Biography:

Steven Ward is a Physician Assistant, Paramedic and educator at Mount St. Joseph University in the Physician Assistant Studies program. He received his Master of Medical Science in 2012 from Wake Forest Unversity. He also received a Master of Health Sciences with a focus in Emergency Medical Care Education from Western Carolina University. He earned his BA is Forensic Biology from Guilford College. Steven is currently a Nationally Registered Paramedic and has been certified as an Advanced Life Support Provider for over 25 years with extensive experience in 911 response, flight and critical care medicine, technical rescue, and wilderness search and rescue. Previously the Education Coordinator for a large metropolitan EMS service in North Carolina, he has been an instructor in numerous certification courses including CPR, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, and has been teaching Emergency Medical Serivce (EMS) professionals for over two decades. He currently works a Physician Assistant (PA) in the Emergency Department with privileges at several area hospitals in addition to maintining his Paramedic certification. He was the first PA in Ohio to be formally invovled in medical direction acitivities for Emergency Medical Services and is on the medical direction staff for three area paramedic-level fire departments.

Steven is an author of several peer-reviewed research publications in Emergency Medical Services including articles in Circulation and Prehospital Emergency Care. He has presented research at national emergency medicine conferences and continues to provide outreach education and presentations at EMS Conferences and departments. He is a part of the Southwest Ohio EMS Protocol Committee.  He is also the Cincinnati Regional Director for the Ohio Association of Physician Assistants and is an active member of many Physician Assistant, EMS and EMS Physician organization.  He is a diehard sports fan, enjoys the great outdoors and spending time with his wife, three children, and close friends.
