Dr. Rasmussen is chair and an associate professor in the Department of Biology. He holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from Emory University and completed his postdoctoral training at the Yale University School of Medicine. Professor Rasmussen also earned a B.S. in Biology from Nebraska Wesleyan University. His research interests include host-pathogen interaction utilizing the Drosophila model system, specifically innate immune response and stem cell division upon microbial infection.
When Dr. Rasmussen is not teaching, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter. His hobbies include photography and home improvement.
